Our Story
Who we are
The Crafty Hammer is a Northern Beaches-based carpentry and project support team specialising in architectural residential construction. We partner with builders and architects who value precision, reliability, and professionalism on-site.
Our crew delivers carpentry packages across projects of all sizes, from structural framing through to detailed finishing work, while supporting project flow, site standards, and program timelines.
Focused on long-term builder relationships, we operate with clear communication, accountability, and consistent workmanship, ensuring every project reflects the high standards expected within the architectural building space.
We now work from two bases. The Northern Beaches remains our home ground and covers Sydney, and a second crew runs out of Port Stephens for work around the bay.

Led by Lachie, The Crafty Hammer runs as a tight, consistent crew rather than a rotating cast of subcontractors. Builders know who is turning up, and homeowners deal with the same people from first walk-through to handover.

Where We Are Based
Two bases, one crew
Northern Beaches for Sydney, Port Stephens for the bay. Same standards, same systems, and a named person running each one.

Where The Crafty Hammer started and where most of our work still happens: architectural builds for Sydney builders and architects, plus renovations, small projects and custom furniture for homeowners across the Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore.

Our second base, covering Shoal Bay, Fingal Bay, Anna Bay, Nelson Bay and Salamander Bay. Mostly outdoor living: hardwood decks on steel subframes, stairs and balustrades, cladding, garages and extension framing.
